A great day in London!

Jun 11, 11:08 PM

Wow, what a great day! Just back from a very special vist to the Marylebone Project, the largest centre in the UK dedicated to helping homeless women. Although we always enjoy all our client visits, today will certainly take some beating.

The charity's newly appointed President Archbishop Desmond Tutu took time out from his busy international schedule to visit the project and to spend time with residents, staff and supporters. The Archbishop is truely inspirational and spoke with great warmth and passion to the many homeless women whom he named "VSP's" or "Very Special People".

I was very humbled to be representing the fundraising team and Archbishop Tutu put me at complete ease in front of the hundred strong group of guests. The excitment continued as Rob Bould and John Siddall of LandAid presented Archbishop Tutu with a cheque for £25,000 to cover the cost of building four new bedroom's at the hostel.

LandAid's donation marks a special milestone for JM Professional Fundraising, as we approach the £500,000 mark, raised on behalf of the Marylebone Project. Operated in partnership between Church Army and the Portman House Trust, and under the expert leadership of CEO Mark Russell (pictured 2nd from left) and Director Carol London Baptiste, the project is destined continued greatness. We are glad to to be part of this growing success story and are greatful to Mark and the Archbishop for their very kind words and encouragement.
